Failure to Appear reinterprets popular urban media, how it is consumed, and what it means to watch it from different perspectives (visually and figuratively). Utilizing iPhone savvy, sonic looping, and a voiceover recounting the names of transwomen and women victims of color of police homicides and violence, Deadwyler enacts the brutality of street fighting a la “WorldStar (HipHop)!” to question who is really fighting whom and why.
